Series: Homestuck

Canon Resource Links: Here we would have the links to wikis and other information sites. If none of those seem to provide enough information, feel free to add more about the character here. However, please do not use this section as a full history section unless your canon is ridiculously obscure. General rule of thumb: if there are a good amount of descriptive resources, please just link them and use this section to add in what may have been left out, as opposed to writing an entire history section.
Personality:
Jane is a surprisingly level minded girl for her age, is a thought that comes to mind when you are thinking of Jane Crocker. The heiress to the big “CrockerCorp”, she has believed all her life that she will take over the company and boy will she have plans for it. Due to this, and her very strict business like attitude her friends call her “uptight” or “tightass”, both of which outright denies whenever she can. But amongst all of this, Jane is just a fifteen year old girl with a passion for things such as comedy, frightening fauna, and being a self-proclaimed “prankstress” of her household”.
Jane is an old-fashioned girl, perhaps from the way she fixes her short spunky hair, or even from the way she speaks. True, she doesn't speak as if she were an old maid; however, she does pepper her every day speech with words like "dagnabbit", "golly", or even "plumb stupid". She is an advocate and full believer of perfect grammar which may also give off the vibe of her being uptight to her friends. She finds that she is even going the extra mile to correct her friends grammar when they pesterchum one another, especially Roxy.
One of the most negative things about Jane is her stubbornness and skepticism. Her fool proof way of believing someone is if she has tangible evidence in front of her eyes. Which is part of the reason her and Roxy sometimes have a difficult time talking and getting along with one another. Roxy knows that she isn't lying to Jane about the fishy company she is an heiress to, but Jane will refuse to believe her until she has proof. Her stubbornness to believe certain things also becomes rather frustrating her friends, and has more than once lead Jane into trouble.
Jane is also extremely sheltered. Her father kept her under lock and key for a very long time. While her father ultimately thought he was doing a swell thing for his daughter by keeping her safe from the many assassins that tried to get at her from the outside world. This lead to Jane being very immature, and not having a fully developed way of handling the outside world. Her immaturity often leads to her being reckless, for example when Jane puts on a horrid disguise to escape her house for a video game- this nearly gets her killed by an exploding mailbox. Another example of just her recklessness would be when she does not heed the warning of Dirk's Auto-Responder and goes to Derse looking for her father and the end result is her being stabbed and thus making unfavorable outcome to the plans AR and Dirk had for the session. (Though this is merely an assumption, since we don't really know what the Auto-Responder had to do with those particular situations, and in canon he is still an unknown factor).
Similar to the Beta session's John, she was donned the leader of her group. She protested it heavily at first, though Dirk states that Jane has all the "plucky spunk" that the team needs for a leader. That is completely true, Jane isn't all negativity and tensity. She has the outgoing characteristics for a leader. She is spunky, and outgoing when she has the drive and determination for something. That something being looking for her Father.
She regards everyone around her fondly, and she tends to care deeply for those that she loves. Even warning Dirk after she sees him in the clouds of prospit of the doom to come. While she is a very reliable gal she has a hard time handling her own emotions, usually setting them aside for the sake of others. The most outstanding example of this is when Jake confronts her about her feelings for him, and she outright lies to him about them. Not having the courage she would have desired to be able to admit that she indeed really fancied Jake. Dirk then came into the outline of that conversation and she took the emotional fall and told Jake to pursue him if that is what felt right. This is proof that Jane doesn't really know how to handle her emotions in an efficient way.
As a character, Jane has grown and faltered, showing us that she has more personality traits than one could have ever expected.
As an added thing, Jane ignited something well known as the "Trickster Arc". In this arc her personality may not have shifted completely, but her mindset surely did. She said things she would not have been apt to say previously. It was more something you could compare to a "sugar high", and was short lived. This results in the group coming to their quest beds and where they all sort of finally talk out their problems.
Not that it needs a double mention, but this was the result of Jane not really knowing how to deal with her emotions, or stress. She deals with them very poorly.
Jane's last form in the comic itself is "Crokertier", in which she becomes very rude and outspoken because she is being controlled. Needless to say, this is very important to her character development but will not be relevant in game itself.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
+Grew up around baking! So she has a lot of baking skills. Which I'm sure can also translate that she has cooking skills as well!
+Kind hearted: She donated a huge sum of money so that kids could go to Boon College.
+Maid of Life: The canonpoint I am bringing her from she is newly transformed into the "Maid of Life". At that point we did not know what her powers held. But recent canon updates show that Jane has the power to bring people back to life.
+Problem Solving/Quick Wit: Jane solved the puzzles of LOCAH by herself. She is self sufficient and can think on her feet!
+High Tolerance: Jane has a very high tolerance for bullshit re: Jake's relationship problems. Even if it wasn't part of the on screen interaction with the Alpha kids. Jane probably listened to Jake go on all the time about Dirk.
+Musical Ability: She plays the piano! Even if it was only shown briefly, it is a skill she has.
+/-Skepticism: A healthy dose of skepticism is never a bad thing! But when it gets in the way of your friendships and accuse someone of lying to you. Yeah. That can turn into a negative mark really fast.
-Kind of sheltered: Jane was the only one of her group to have not really roughed it before being thrown in SBURB. Sure she had people after her head because she's an heiress. But she certainly didn't live in the jungle, or happen to be one of two humans left on the entire earth in the future.
-Reckless: Jane. She is really reckless. Not listening to Auto Responder and getting herself killed is a really good example of this.
-Being under pressure: This is REALLY BAD for Jane. Putting her under some kind of emotional stress causes her to wig out. Example being when she tried to confess her crush to Jake, and she completely friendzoned herself by accident.
-Anger/Irrationality: The only downside to her tolerance is that when there is no more tolerance left she becomes very angry and extremely irrational. At her own birthday party, the situation with Jake exploded. Her rationality was thrown to the wayside and she did not handle the situation very well. She flipped a table in anger, and she ran away crying. There were so many other ways to handle that situation, and she was unable to think to do those things.

So this isn't really what I imagined would happen to me after being attacked by Jake's crazy grandma. No, she really was sweet. I don't think I am very certain as to what happened to her. Oh but never mind that! It is highly unlikely that she would even be here anyways.
Shucksbuster, I thought it was highly unlikely that I would even be here.
[Jane is treating this like her personal diary. Except. Broadcasted to the entire region. Good job Jane, you get a gold star for this one.]
I've left New Bark Town at this point, I'm heading.....somewhere on a route with my new friend Cupcake (a Happiny)! She is certainly precious, and we're already off to a good start on being the most swell of pals. Gracious...I must sound crazy saying all of this. I bet Dirk, Jake, and Roxy would laugh at me. I wish they were here to see this. It would be exciting to take an adventure like this together!
Third Person Sample:
Being stuck in a world she thought was a highly thought out fantasy, it's enough to get a skeptic's blood running. She didn't believe it. Of course she didn't! Jane Crocker, believing anything that happens to her right off the bat? No sir. No way. Not even now. Nothing was going to sway Jane on how she is viewing this, one big fat dream.
Jane guesses she could have a worse dealing in dreams; this was pretty tame in manner of what she had previously been dealing with. She shrugs the thought from her shoulders, she didn't want to think about it right now. What was happening back in SBURB could be handled another time. Before she began her aimless wandering she checked out the bag provided to her. Clothing, some toiletries, gear, and it seemed as if she had received extra things as she is going down the route of a breeder. She stops at a rock on the way to where she thinks the next town will be, it is time to sit here and collect her thoughts.
Jane takes a deep breath, dare she review her morning?
Jane recalls wakes up in a strange place which she finds out to be New Bark Town, she goes downstairs and she’s handed a PokéBall and told by her ‘Mom’ that she is starting some kind of journey. A Pokémon journey to be exact, and she knows the rest would be history if anyone were reading her text bubbles. This was a game right? This had to be a game. There was absolutely no sign of any of her friends being around, and she is sure even they would laugh at her once she woke up and told them how crazy realistic this dream had been. Even giving herself a moment to think is dangerous, she remembers all of the things that happened to her pre-Pokémon fantasy dream and wonders- what if this isn’t a dream?
She takes the bag off of her back and rummages around for a moment, ah, there it is! She fumbles around with the ball for a moment before finally figuring out how to open it. A creature starts hopping around, which she figures out is a Happiny, the first stage of Chansey. She reaches out and the Pokémon pats her fingers happily in some sort of greeting, she figures this little creature must only be a baby. It’s cute, and somewhat comforting in this kind of situation. But from here she doesn’t know where to go, or what to do, or how to function properly in this world. If this was something she would have to get used to, she would need to suck it up and get going. Just as Jane was getting far too flustered and angry for her own good, something was placed in her hand. Jane looks at the item, an egg shaped rock, and her Happiny. A soft smile plays back onto her face. She really shouldn’t be angry.
“You’re right,” she begins speaking out loud presumably to her new friend and it tips it's head at her, “I can’t just sit here a mope. We have a journey to start and friendships to form! I can sleuth the finer details out later, gosh darn it!” Jane stands up, resilient as ever. “No matter how long it takes, I think you and I can do it together.”

hurrdurr
Jane is the post scratch character of Nanna Egbert. Her story begins after John and his buddies scratch their session of SBURB and send themselves hurdling through space to the "New Session". That session fondly regarded and spoken as the "Alpha" session.
Jane is a surprisingly level minded girl for her age, is a thought that comes to mind when you are thinking of Jane Crocker. The heiress to the big “CrockerCorp”, she has believed all her life that she will take over the company and boy will she have plans for it. She is also the companies NUMBER ONE FAN, wow isn't that great?! Due to this, and her very clipped like attitude her friends call her “uptight” or “tightass”, both of which outright denies whenever given the chance- she is a very sociable and fun girl thank you very much! But among all of the name calling and accusations, Jane is just a fifteen year old girl with a passion for things such as comedy, frightening fauna, and being a self-proclaimed “prankstress” of her household.
Jane is definitely what you would call an "old fashioned" kind of lady, perhaps from the way she fixes her short spunky hair, or even from the way she uses her dialect. Now mind you she doesn't speak as if she were an old maid; however, she does pepper her every day speech with words like "shucks buster" and "dagnabit". She types in bright blue text, and her syntax and grammar are more often than not perfect. But other than that there is really nothing out of the ordinary about the way she types. Sometimes however she goes the extra mile and corrects her friends grammar on a daily basis. While all of that is said, she isn't a huge stickler for grammar, and even makes up words herself!
Like any human-being Jane has her negative traits. For example, her most prominent flaw is that she is highly skeptical and unbelieving. Her fool proof way of believing someone is if she has tangible evidence in front of her eyes, "Believing somebody is not the same as believing IN somebody" as said in her own words. She does believe in all of her friends! She does. But that doesn't mean she believes all of the things that are leaving their fingers onto their keyboards. They could be lying to her for all she knows! Which is a lot of the reason her and Roxy could never see eye to eye on things in the far earliest parts of Act 6, and her absolute refusal to hear any of the urban legends that surrounded the Betty Crocker corporation. Her stubbornness is another trait about her that got her into more trouble than she bargained for. As mentioned before, Jane is the number one fan and heiress of Betty Crocker which often results in many attempts on her life and often leads into her being locked in her house with absolute ZERO permission to leave. But just to get to the mailbox for a video game she brushes any thought of a threat aside and goes past his many obstacles to get outside and get to the mailbox- which exploded.
In the short Act 6 Act 4 flash, we see that Jane seems to have gained a new confidence. The way she holds herself is different. The weapon she's holding exudes a new amount of strength.
Jane is patient. But only patient up to a certain point. She had been dealing a lot with Jake constantly dogging her about thing, supposedly about his relationship with Dirk. Jane ends up snapping in the end, showing that she too has a limit. She is patient, and kind, but has a limit. Here we can certainly infer that Jane still doesn't and probably won't have the best grip on her emotions in the very end. She deals with her stress poorly and examples such as her snapping at Jake, and becoming impatient at Roxy are well known examples throughout canon.
It is very important to note that Jane went through a very big transformation after the tiaratop was snapped back on her. She was transformed into what has become widely known as "Crockertier". She is still dressed in her Maid outfit, it was just taken on the red and black of Betty Crocker. Her original personality is completely thrown to the wayside. As Crockertier, Jane has become brainwashed. Her brained has been taken over by an artificial intelligence that outweighs even Dirk's Auto-Responder. She has become more rude, outspoken in what she wants, and demanding. She has also become very ruthless. The one aspect I would say got amplified by her going Crockertier is her shrewd businesswoman like way of doing things. Before SBURB she has BIG PLANS for her company, and now she is going to complete those BIG PLANS again- but under the control of The Condescension.
---
I would like to talk here a little bit about Jane's development, this is just an added section for that! She is introduced in the very beginning of Act 6 first. The base of what you see out of her is just being a young teenage girl with many interests and on the side hobbies. Those hobbies and interests include things like baking, detective stories, mustachioed funnyguys, and frightening fauna. She was into botany once as well...not so much anymore.
We dig a little deeper and we find out she is indeed a kind soul. Giving to others who cannot give for themselves. She is a go-getter! She has the determination to get what she wants and be a sucessful young lady doing it. She cares deeply for her friends, and is quick witted! But on the other side of the coin, while she can be all of those things above and do it in a cheerful kind of mood- she is also quick to anger, and she can be very skeptical towards something that she cannot bring herself to believe. Things can set her off as easy as a strike of lightning! We also find out she is rather reckless as opposed to being passive like some of the others in the series. She more than once disregarded instructions from her father on not leaving the house, and disregarded an instruction to leave Derse before she was hurt. Both instances resulted in a near death or her actually dying.
While she does not tend to agree with all of the beliefs her friends carry, Jane is also quick to put aside her own beliefs for someone else's happiness. This is shown best when she puts aside her feelings for Jake. This instance is what caused her ultimate unhappiness as time progressed. She began unwillingly listening to Jake about whether he like Dirk or not. This happened often, and especially when they were all in game.
It takes a lot to get Jane frustrated, but once she is she has a short fuse. As I mentioned before she is quick to anger. This becomes the rolling stone for events to come. Her anger and bitterness towards the situation with Jake, plush the fact that he and Dirk had missed her birthday party lead her finally release the anger which she was holding. Instead of merely talking about her problems, Jane instead lashed out.
Not too much later Jane created the spiral lollipop, and it was her inability to resist licking the lollipop that engaged Trickster Mode. Jane herself seems to be more outspoken in Trickster Mode. As opposed to when she was not. Where she would not let her feelings out and would not say what was on her mind. It seemed to make her the polar opposite, and that is all that really needs to be said about that. Since the focus of this is on her and not the other three alpha kids.
From the end of trickster mode to the canon point I had chosen for Jane. She grew a lot. After Trickster Mode, Jane was given an opportunity to speak with Dirk. Finally the both of them were able to set aside their mutual liking for Jake and talk about their problems which was a huge and let me emphasize HUGE part of her development. She had went from not talking about her problems at all and keeping her feelings to herself to actually letting her feelings air out into the open.
Not much really happened in terms of personality development after that vital conversation with Dirk. Since it was basically right after that when they all died on their quest beds and ascended to God Tier.
All in all I believe that Jane grew up a lot from her initial entrance into Homestuck. She was sweet, plucky, and kind of closed off. She grew into so much more after realizing what a mistake it was to keep herself from expressing her feelings, as it had also almost damaged her friendships.
